When you read a fiction book and the author is describing the beauty of the
heroine, the mention of soft, pink feather-like lips are always there. However,
the reality is far from rosy. Only a few of us really have beautiful, full, and
soft lips, while most of us have to cover up the flaws with a lipstick. However,
sometimes, even lipstick is not able to hide our flaws, mostly when we are
suffering from scaly lips. Getting rid of scaly lips is easy and you don’t have
to devote lots of time for that too. Want to know more? Read on. This article
will help you find out how to get rid of scaly lips.
Getting Rid Of Scaly Lips
Moisturizing Is Necessary
Lips tend to get dry in cold season more. However, if you suffer from scaly lips
throughout the year, it may be because you are not moisturizing yourself
properly in and out. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet, with lots of
proteins and vitamins. Integrate leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. With
that, moisturize your lips with petroleum jelly or other lips balms two-three
times a day.
Stomach Problem
Sometimes, it’s also seen that if you have a bad digestive system, your lips
tend to become scaly. So, make sure that you don’t suffer from any stomach
problems.
Get The Toothbrush
Get a soft toothbrush, preferably unused, apply double coat of petroleum jelly
over it and then, giving a soft pressure, massage your lips with it, in a
circular motion. You will see the scales coming out of the lips. Wipe the lips
with cotton and reapply petroleum jelly or a lip balm. Repeat the process two
times a day, to get better results.
Use Lip Scrub
You can replace the toothbrush trick by application of lip scrub too. Get a lip
scrub from a reputed brand and apply it according to the directions given.
However, while buying the lip scrub, focus on the ones with natural supplements,
as they don't have any side effect. Some lip scrub even tend to dry up the lips,
so make sure you buy something that will keep your lips moisturized after
scrubbing.
Homemade Lip Balms
Instead of using petroleum jelly, lipstick or other lip balms, make your natural
substitute for them. Take two teaspoon of Aloe Vera, mix two drops of Chamomile
and Geranium oil each and blend them together. Keep the mixture an airtight box
and use it as a lip balm. You can even blend eucalyptus oil with either
Chamomile or Geranium oil to Aloe Vera, in same amount, to make different kind
of lip balms.
Don’t Lick Or Chew Your Lips
Licking or chewing is the worst culprit behind chapped, scaly lips. When you
lick the lips, the saliva present in the mouth breaks the cells, making them
drier. Chewing your lips can even lead to bleeding, which can get infected more
and become sore.
Humidify Your Home
If your home is dry and you spend much time at home, then the chances are your
lips will become scaly. Humidify your home to keep your lips from getting
chapped and scaly. |
